Two airports serve Cappadocia. Here's how to choose and what to expect.
Kayseri Airport (ASR)
Distance: ~75 km to Goreme (about 1 hour)
Pros: More flights, major airlines, better connections from Istanbul
Cons: Longer drive
Most visitors fly into Kayseri. Our Kayseri airport transfer operates for all flight times, including early morning balloon connections.
Nevsehir Airport (NAV)
Distance: ~40 km to Goreme (about 40 minutes)
Pros: Closer to hotels
Cons: Fewer flights, seasonal operation, limited airlines
Check if Nevsehir has flights on your travel dates. When available, it saves driving time.
Transfer Options
Private Transfer: Door-to-door service. Best for families or groups. Our vehicles include child seats on request.
Shared Shuttle: Budget option. May stop at multiple hotels. Longer journey time.
Rental Car: Roads are good but you won't need a car for tours. Parking can be tricky in Goreme.
Timing Tips
- Book balloon rides for Day 2, not arrival day - weather delays happen
- Morning flights let you explore the same afternoon
- Evening arrivals work fine - just rest before early balloon pickup
- Tell your transfer provider if you're connecting to a balloon - they'll prioritize timing
What to Expect
Drivers meet you at arrivals with a name board. Vehicles are air-conditioned. Water usually provided. The drive passes through Cappadocia landscape - your first glimpse of the fairy chimneys.
